This Week I Learned
- There’s a new strain of covid that brings serious symptoms for 7-10 days and it’s on the rise. Be careful out there!
- If you want to learn more about crypto, I can NOT recommend Pomp’s Crypto Academy enough. It is incredible for a full knowledge of crypto & web3 no matter where you are in the journey. Tell them I sent ya!
- There are two competing narratives around work in the United States. From “nobody wants to work” to “people with multiple full time jobs” it seems both are true but instead of accepting a narrative, we need to look at the underlying reasons why these trends are occurring.
Episode Recap
Tejaswi (or Teja, pronounced like Tay-ha) is a leader at a tech company, but he hates coding? However, as fate would have it, Teja found himself at a tech company and this journey has made immensely humble. He has learned many valuable lessons along the way and is intent on sharing them with others.
Describing himself as an accidental leader, Teja describes leadership as more than just a combination of baseline abilities but a number of soft skills layered on top. Doing that at scale and consistently over the course of career is insanely hard and requires taking on challenges with high levels of risk.
He also describes how and why building trust the right way is critical to successful, upward movement in a career. This requires constant adjustments and growth for “luck” to occur for people.
People are grappling with a lot of questions that puts into perspective the output they deliver at work and what that does for them.
Tejaswi Gautam
The Future of Work project was started by Teja because people have always been struggling in workplaces and covid has forced people to introspect and look at things from the best possible perspective – their lens. New conversations are occuring about how people think about work, but many aren’t even sure what questions to ask to create a better future for everyone.
